I’ve grown frustrated with this statement, often used in the context of justifying our bloated corn industry. How can we be feeding the world when 90% of our own food in Iowa is imported? How is it right that we have the best soil on the planet for agriculture and yet 1 in 9 Iowans are food insecure? How is it that less than 6% of food sold in Iowa is farmed locally?
